BRIEF: Bond set for pair arrested in Dollar General burglary

FULTON, Jan 10, 2013 (Daily Gazette - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Bond was set at $200,000 each Wednesday for a Chicago couple charged with stealing cash and credit cards from the employee break room at the Dollar General in Fulton.

Stephen M. Sato, 32, and Julie Koroktov, 37, were arrested around 2 p.m. Tuesday at a cabin in the 3300 block of Riverview Road in Thomson.

Each is charged with burglary, but more charges may be pending -- they also are suspects in two similar burglaries Dec. 27 at Dollar Generals in Morrison and Port Byron.

They have a preliminary hearing Jan. 17.

On Dec. 31, employees at the Dollar Tree in Fulton told police that two people went into the store, and while one distracted employees, the other went into the break room and stole about $300 in cash, credit cards, and identification cards.

Police took screen shots from surveillance video and circulated them, in an attempt to find the suspects, Fulton Police Lt. Donnie Pridemore said.

A police officer in Carroll County contacted Fulton PD and said the man in the photo, later identified as Sato, resembled a man he pulled over a week before, Pridemore said.

Monday, police also received a tip that two people matching the description of the burglars went into a local business in Sterling, Pridemore said.
