TomTom to deliver HD traffic content to Telenav mobile navigation customers


Jan 10, 2013 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- TomTom NV, a Netherlands-based manufacturer of automotive navigation systems, has signed a partnership with Telenav, Inc., a provider of location based services, including voice guided navigation on mobile phones, to deliver improved traffic content to Telenav's mobile navigation customers, including those using the Scout personalized GPS navigation application on iPhone, Android and Windows devices.



TomTom's HD Traffic services will deliver enhanced congestion, incident and estimated time of arrival data, resulting in improved traffic-based routing. TomTom HD Traffic combines information from over 76 million live data sources, including connected navigation devices, mobile phones, and incident data to produce up-to-date traffic information for dynamic routing.

"Traffic is a daily pain point for many drivers and we are passionate about helping our customers save time and reduce stress," said Ryan Peterson, director of product management for Traffic and Navigation at Telenav. "We selected TomTom HD Traffic in order to improve the quality of our traffic services across our mobile apps." On iPhone and Android devices, Telenav's Scout application includes free voice GPS navigation, local search, traffic information, speech recognition, and automatic rerouting. It also features My Dashboard, a customizable home screen that provides users with personalized commute times to work and home.
