Lion Country PR director knows the best places to roar [The Palm Beach Post, Fla.]

(Palm Beach Post (FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jan. 02--The Scene Maker: Jennifer Berthiaume Who she is: Jennifer Berthiaume is the director of public relations and marketing for Lion Country Safari, a drive-through and walk-through animal park in Loxahatchee, a position she's held for more than 10 years.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, Berthiaume oversees marketing projects, group sales, guest services and VIP tours. She's active on social media, posting up-to-the-minute information about what's happening at the park on its Facebook page.

Berthiaume says she loves her job because it's never the same two days in a row. Berthiaume can make decisions on the fly and keep a cool head -- something you definitely need when you're surrounded by dangerous animals. Berthiaume and Lion Country are committed to conservation, and the health and welfare of the animals comes first.

When she's not at Lion Country, Berthiaume is an active volunteer and guest speaker. She was a finalist in the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches Athena award in the Young Professionals category.

Berthiaume has lived in Palm Beach County most of her life. She currently lives in Royal Palm Beach with her husband and two daughters.

Favorite breakfast place Butterfields in Royal Palm Beach. Their food and service is always superb! Butterfields Southern Cafe, 1145 Royal Palm Beach Blvd., Royal Palm Beach. Info: (561) 792-8723; www.butterfieldcafe.com Favorite Happy Hour spot Blue Martini at CityPlace in West Palm Beach. I don't get out to a happy hour often, but when I do it is always Blue Martini. They have a great happy hour special, offering ½ price on food and drinks! Blue Martini Lounge, 550 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach. Info: 561-835-8601; www.bluemartinilounge.com Most-frequented restaurant Francesca's Pizza and Wine Bar, Royal Palm Beach. My family and I eat here about once a week. We have our "usual table" in the middle of the restaurant and we are often joined by our fellow softball families after a practice or game. The pizza is some of the best I've eaten! My favorite is the Francesca Pizza (marinated chicken, red onion and bacon). Plus, they have a great staff and great owners.

Francesca's Pizza, 11452 Okeechobee Blvd., Royal Palm Beach. Info: 561-422-0600.

Favorite way/place to relax and recharge A few hours at Sanda Gane Day Spa, or the Mall at Wellington Green.

Because we are on-the-go so much with work and the kids' activities, I really enjoy a "traditional," home-cooked meal at our own dinner table.

Favorite theater or venue Cruzan Ampitheatre -- I usually go to three or four shows each year and this is a great facility to see a concert! The most recent concert I went to was with my family, we saw Jason Mraz/Christina Perri. The artist I look forward to the most and NEVER miss a show is the Dave Matthews Band. I've seen Dave Matthews Band here about 14 times.

Cruzan Amphitheatre, 601-7 Sansbury's Way, West Palm Beach. Info: 561-793-0333.

Favorite tourist-y place to take out of towners Lion Country Safari! Because I work here, out-of-town family want to visit Lion Country Safari! It really is a unique experience to see wild animals roaming just inches from your car! My kids always act as "tour guide" for our guests! Lion Country Safari, 2003 Lion Country Safari Road, Loxahatchee. Info: 561-793-1084; www.lioncountrysafari.com Favorite way to spend a Sunday afternoon Watching my 13-year-old and her Royal Palm Beach Panther travel team play softball. We have been with this same team since 2008 and have formed such a bond with wonderful people! If we are playing on a Sunday afternoon, that most likely means we are in the finals! ___ (c)2013 The Palm Beach Post (West Palm Beach, Fla.)
