BRIEF: Chapel Hill police investigate Franklin Street shooting


CHAPEL HILL, Jan 01, 2013 (The News & Observer (Raleigh - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A person was shot and police are looking for three suspects in an incident in the University Square parking lot on Franklin Street Tuesday morning.



The incident happened at about 3:30 a.m. outside the Time Out restaurant. Police say there was some kind of disturbance and that the person's injuries were not considered life-threatening. They did not say anything more about the person who was shot.

They are looking for three suspects, including the shooter who may have been wearing a red jacket.


All three suspects were described as light-skinned black males with their hair in braids. One wore a Nike cap and another a gray hoodie. Police gave no other descriptive details such as weight, height or other clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to arrest.
