Huawei brings out quad-core phone

Dec 30, 2012 (Arab News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has announced the launch of the company's first quad-core smartphone, the Ascend D1 quad, in the Kingdom.

It utilizes Huawei's own proprietary chipset and featured as part of the company's premier Ascend "Diamond" series.

Jiao Jian, president of Huawei Device in the Middle East, says the new release characterizes Huawei's heavy investments in research and development over the past year and underpins the company's recent arrival into the premium consumer electronics segment.

The Ascend D1 quad is priced at SR 1,499 and is now available through Huawei's distribution partner AZAQ (Ali Zaid Al Quraishi & Brothers Co. LTD) in retail outlets across the Kingdom including E-max, Carrefour, Extra, Lulu, Hyper Panda, Bin Dawood, Manuel, Ahmed Abdul Wahed, Al Danub, Al Musbah, Jarir Bookstore and more.

The Ascend D1 quad is turbo-charged all around, combining good looks and performance with an exceptional audio visual experience.

The Android 4.0 smartphone features an 1800mAh battery that lasts up to two days with normal usage.

The Ascend D1 quad also keeps you on-the-go more than 30 percent longer than the industry average by adjusting power consumption according to usage needs.

"Huawei has listened to people's top demands and focused significant resources over the last year to bring distinct advancements into the Middle East gadget industry," notes Jiao.

"The Ascend D1 quad exceeds all these expectations while expanding the realm of possibilities for consumers with Huawei's own super-fast processor, extended battery life, and high-quality audio visual capabilities." Breaking the industry mold, Huawei has selected to run the device with its own proprietary quad-core chipset; becoming one of only a small number of vendors globally to fully develop their own quad-core processors.
