BRIEF: AT&T launches 4G LTE network in Lexington [Lexington Herald-Leader]

(Lexington Herald-Leader (KY) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 21--AT&T turned on its 4G LTE next-generation high-speed wireless data network in Lexington on Thursday.

In a news release, AT&T promises its wireless customers that LTE, which stands for "long-term evolution," is "capable of delivering speeds faster than many other mobile Internet technologies" and that they "can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before." LTE technology also offers faster response time and more efficient use of the wireless spectrum.

Verizon introduced 4G LTE service to Lexington earlier this year, according to its website. Sprint has yet to launch 4G LTE in Kentucky, its website said.
