Cooltrax Reaches Milestone of 40 Million Reefer Hours Monitored

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NASHUA, NH -- (Marketwire) -- 12/21/12 -- Cooltrax, provider of real-time cold chain tracking and monitoring solutions for temperature-sensitive products and mobile assets, today announced an estimated 40 million reefer hours have been monitored since the release of Cooltrax Fresh inTransit -- its industry leading online refrigerated asset monitoring system. Cooltrax UMDs (universal monitoring devices) are installed and operational worldwide, providing on-line, real-time monitoring of refrigerated assets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

No part of the cold chain introduces as many variables and risks that can affect temperature-sensitive products as the fleet. Dynamic factors such as driver behavior, reefer and trailer condition, distance to travel, and external ambient weather conditions can cause problems for products moving from the manufacturer, through the distribution center, and finally to store shelves.

According to Larry Nuttall, Cooltrax executive director, "The transportation and logistics manager at one of the world's largest refrigerated fleet operations told me that he receives alerts about reefer failures, depleted fuel, or out of range temperatures at all hours of the day and night. Having the ability to react immediately to these alerts has saved them hundreds of thousands of dollars on lost loads." Fresh inTransit's active RF technology is combined with a single web-based interface to track, capture, and automatically report product temperatures and locations in real-time. This information allows the Cooltrax application to notify stakeholders of deviations in standard operating procedures. This translates into significant fuel savings, increased shelf life, consistency of temperature, and validation of product integrity.

"Significant fuel savings are realized by another Cooltrax user, an organic foods distributor," said Nuttall. "They mine Cooltrax historical data to analyze reefer fleet operating trends, and then modify operating procedures as needed to improve bottom line performance."
