(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Panasonic Corp., Japan based electronics manufacturer, has commenced production at its newly unveiled HIT (heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer) solar module manufacturing facility in Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah.

This manufacturing facility has an annual production capacity of 300MW and will produce the solar modules to provide highest-level conversion efficiency. This new facility is Panasonic s first completely integrated solar manufacturing base which manufactures from wafers to solar cells and modules, to fulfill strong demand as well as reinforce cost-efficiency with less transportation expenses and use of local materials. The new facility will improve Panasonic s total solar module manufacturing capacity by 50% to 900MW.

At present, Panasonic is producing HIT solar cells at its two plants in Japan. The company has three module assembly bases, two in Japan and one in Hungary, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 600MW each of cells and modules.

The company stated that, the global solar market is likely to expand further with growing environmental consciousness and the beginning of stimulus measures including feed-in tariffs and subsidies in different countries, like Japan. Using its solar manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to intensify efforts offering integrated solar solutions combining modules with power conditioners, solar tracker bases, storage batteries and other components to fulfill the requirements of various customers and to enlarge its business.
