BRIEF: Armed men force their way into Cranberry apartment

Dec 14, 2012 (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Three men armed with at least one long gun and a pistol burst into a Cranberry apartment Thursday evening and demanded cash and drugs, leaving when two roommates escaped to call 911.

Five people Cranberry police described as "temporarily working in the Pittsburgh area" were in the apartment in the Laurelwood complex about 8:05 p.m.

Three men -- two white, one black -- forced their way in and bound the occupants, police said.

About 15 minutes later, two more roommates came home. The robbers ordered them inside but they ran to a phone, police said. One robber chased them but did not catch them, then all the robbers ran off, police said.

Police did not have any further information identifying the robbers of their vehicle.

Police said they did not know if the people in the apartment were targeted deliberately.

Cranberry police asked that anyone with information call them at 724-776-5180.
