$2,200 in items stolen from home prior to fire


ASHLAND, Dec 10, 2012 (The Daily Independent - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The following information was taken from Ashland Police Department reports: Arson, burglary One of the residents of a home in the 3200 block of Hackworth Street that caught fire Thursday morning told police roughly $2,220 worth of items were stolen from the residence prior to the blaze.



Stolen items included two Xbox gaming consoles, a desktop computer, two laptop computers and a .20-gauge shotgun.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported just before 10 a.m. However, the two-story house was heavily damaged.


Burglary A resident of the 2600 block of McKnipp Street recently reported two guitars, a camera and flat-screen TV, all valued at $3,650, were stolen in a burglary at his home.

Theft J&S Vinyl Co., 2130 Winchester Ave., on Wednesday reported the license plate had been stolen from one of its vehicles.

A resident of the 3400 block of Central Avenue on Thursday reported someone removed a set of keys from the door of her residence.

Fugitive arrest Police on Wednesday arrested Eric Layne, 25, of Ironton, on a warrant charging him with being a fugitive from justice from Ohio.

Shoplifting A 22-year-old Flatwoods man was arrested Wednesday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $41.92.

A 32-year-old Flatwoods man was arrested Thursday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $118.73.

A 60-year-old Ashland woman was arrested Thursday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $119.39.

A 31-year-old Greenup man was arrested Thursday at Walmart for allegedly trying to steal merchandise valued at $21.20.
