BRIEF: Fort Gordon soldiers to head to Middle East after departure ceremony

Adeparture ceremony was held Friday for 33 soldiers set for a nine-month deployment to conduct
worldwide communications in the Middle East.
During the ceremony at Fort Gordon, Lt. Col. Michael P. Martel, of the 63rd Expeditionary Signal Battalion, told the soldiers to be safe on their missions.
Martel said the intense training the men and women received will allow them to perform to the best of their abilities. He also thanked their families for supporting the soldiers during training.
The battalion will depart for the Middle East before Christmas, said Capt. Devon Thomas, the battalion's public affairs officer.
