Children's centre opens at Al Majaz WaterfrontDec 06, 2012 (Khaleej Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Shaikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), inaugurated --Alwan-- Children--s Centre, offering arts, handicrafts, origami, storytelling and accessory making at Al Majaz Waterfront recently. It is a childhood centre that ensures a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for children. Shaikha Bodour praised the full range of fun-filled and educational activities. Designed in the best interest of children, interactive activities are aimed at helping develop children's intellectual skills. She stressed the need to ensure that children are given proper care and attention and are provided with a positive educational environment. Speaking on the occasion, Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, CEO of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), said: "Alwan Centre is not merely a place for play, but rather an interactive learning facility that enables children and their families to enjoy their time and have fun through a well-designed package of fun-filled and learning activities and programmes." The centre boasts of a variety of specially designed areas, including a nursery, playground with soft surfaces, a coffee shop, and hair salon. There is also an art space, a space designed for handicrafts, another space for story reading, a computer room, celebration room, sports room, and a room for special occasions, such as birthday parties or any other occasion designed to make any event unforgettable.
