Mocana Reports Deadline to Register for Amphion Forum 2012 in San Francisco

Dec 04, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Mocana, a provider of device and mobile security, is inviting technology leaders interested in mobile security to register for the Amphion Forum event coming to San Francisco on December 5.

Thought leaders from academia, business, government and technology will discuss the threats and opportunities presented by the proliferation of mobile and connected devices that are creating the 'Internet of Things.' Online registration closes Friday.

This exclusive interdisciplinary event will gather device security researchers and experts from around the world and features an opening keynote by Bev Crair, general manager of the Intelligent Systems Framework Division at Intel Corp., on "Setting the Framework for Securing Intelligent Systems and the Internet of Things." "From iOS and Android mobile devices, to embedded electronics, to the smart grid, to medical equipment, we live in a world where connected devices outnumber PCs by at least five to one. Yet virtually all of these devices are defenseless, deployed on the Internet with less security than what you'd find on your home PC," said Kurt Stammberger, CISSP, vice president of market development at Mocana and chair of the Amphion Forum. "As the only event of its kind, the Amphion Forum is able to bring together experts from diverse industries to establish a framework to address the device security mess, which will cost businesses billions in the next few years if we don't work together to address it now." Morning and afternoon sessions will include a number of presentations and moderated panel discussions, starting with an opening presentation on "Preventing Zero-Day Vulnerabilities on Mobile Devices," followed by two panel discussions, "The Enterprise App Tsunami - What Leading Organizations Need to Know to Ride the Wave while Securing Their Interests" and an expert panel addressing device security and threats to the Internet of Things.

Four technology tracks in the forum's afternoon agenda feature nineteen presentations by thought leaders from a number of leading technology companies, including "Securing the Endpoints: Innovations in ID and Security," "Threats to the Smart Grid: Possible Responses," "The Security Cathedral and Bazaar: Mobile System Level Crypto Services vs. Embedded App Security" and "Self-Defending Software (Lessons from the Garden of Eden)." The San Francisco event is modeled on the World Economic Forum and is sponsored by a who's who of mobile and device security innovators, including Gold Sponsors Mocana, Intel Corp., Wind River, McAfee, Codenomicon and VDC Research, as well as Fixmo, Cryptography Research, Metaforic and Arxan Technologies.
