Molex Extends Micro-SIM Card Socket Portfolio [Professional Services Close - Up]

(Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Molex Inc. has expanded its micro-SIM card socket portfolio for mobile device manufacturers.

According to a release, designed for smart phones, tablet PCs, GPS watches and other space-constrained applications, micro-SIM push- push card sockets deliver high contact and advanced card-retention features to prevent accidental ejection. The push-pull socket versions offer anti-shorting and card polarization features. A new card-tray version provides retention assurance and ease of user card insertion and extraction.

"Downsizing of mobile devices and the transition to 3G and 4G/ LTE networks require smaller connector form-factors - and better connector designs," states Doug Jones, group product manager, Molex. "These newest compact micro-SIM versions offer superior electrical contact and other important advantages to mobile equipment manufacturers." "Developed to fit portable devices otherwise too small for a mini- SIM card, our new push-push, push-pull and tray versions of micro- SIM card sockets offer manufacturers ultimate design flexibility and superior product performance," adds Jones.
