BRIEF: Castilleja coach stepping down after 10 years

Nov 30, 2012 (Palo Alto Daily News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- After 10 seasons, Tracie Meskell has stepped down as girls volleyball coach at Castilleja-Palo Alto. Meskell made the decision on Wednesday, citing family reasons.

"It was a hard decision," Meskell said. "I don't have the time to put 100 percent into the program after I had my son, Liam. I can't put in the time after practice that I need to. I decided to stop now. Castilleja is a good school and I don't want to hurt the program. I have been there 10 yeas, so maybe it's time a new face came in. Maybe I'll come back in the future. I might even coach boys volleyball when my son grows up." Meskell coached Castilleja during its run to the CIF Div. V state championship in 2008, when the Gators won in five sets at the Bren Center in UC Irvine. Castilleja was the NorCal champion and state runner-up in 2005 and 2006.
