True targets enterprise sector

Nov 30, 2012 (Bangkok Post - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- True Corporation is bullish on its revenue from enterprise customers and is targeting at least 10 billion baht next year.

The fully integrated communications conglomerate aims for revenue stemming from fixed-line, mobile, broadband internet and data centre services to rise from an expected 8.5 billion baht this year.

"We're confident of achieving next year's target, which will be propelled by the rapid growth in data usage from enterprise customers," said Songtham Phianpattanawit, True's executive director for enterprise business and international services.

Revenue from mobile phones will be the key growth driver with expected revenue of 2 billion baht next year, up from 1.5 billion this year, he added.

Mr Songtham said the arrival of the Asean Economic Community in 2016 is encouraging small and medium-sized companies to apply more technologies and telecom services in anticipation of more competition.

True has 110,000 enterprise customers, of which 3,000 are large companies, mainly in Bangkok.

The number of enterprise users is expected to rise by 10% each year.

Mr Songtham said True is likely to earn 60-billion-baht revenue this year, with 17% contributed by the enterprise segment.

Early this year, True restructured its customer segments into four: state agencies, enterprises, education and real estate.

The restructure is aimed at streamlining management and operations and enhancing both efficiency and customer service under a convergence policy, he said.

Mr Songtham said True expects to become the leader in the virtual private network or leased line market in the near future, up from second place now.

True is exploring new business opportunities in Asean, especially the international internet gateway (IIG) field.

"If we obtain an IIG licence from the Myanmar government, we plan to apply our convergence approach using our group's products," he said.

For its 3G mobile broadband service, Mr Songtham said TrueMove is increasingly adding more product varieties featuring open-standard operating systems including Android with affordable prices.

True's mobile phone flagship will continue developing its digital market to serve the growing popularity of mobile commerce.

Shares of TRUE closed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand at 4.98 baht yesterday, down 7 satang, in trade worth 507.30 million baht.
