Dell Expands Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Offerings with New Windows Server 2012 Solution
ROUND ROCK, Texas --(Business Wire)--
Dell today announced new cloud client computing solutions providing
customers who have selected a Microsoft (News - Alert) desktop virtualization strategy
with additional infrastructure options. Dell DVS
Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 is an end-to-end desktop
virtualization infrastructure enabling IT to provide workers with secure
and flexible access to data and applications while simplifying
management and improving data security, control and compliance. This
end-to-end offering further extends Dell's (News - Alert) leading position in the cloud
client computing market.
DVS
Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 is an on-premises solution
designed to help Dell partners and customers easily size and deliver
pre-tested Dell hardware components to support specific configurations
over 1,000 remote desktop sessions or up to 600 VDI users. It is ideal
for organizations such as schools and universities that have existing
Microsoft and education licensing and purchasing agreements and are
interested in a limited-sized deployment, along with a mix of remote
desktop sessions and virtual machines at an affordable cost.
The end-to-end solution based on the recently announced
reference
architecture has bee pre-tested and pre-configured with Dell
PowerEdge 12G Servers, Dell EqualLogic storage, Dell Force10 networking,
Dell ProSupport¹, Dell Wyse thin clients and Windows Server 2012 server
licensing with multiple real-life workloads. Dell DVS
Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 provides multiple virtualization
modes, including pooled and personal virtual desktops and Remote Desktop
Services that are all managed, deployed and configured from the same
console.
Dell Wyse's range of Windows Server 2012 RemoteFX optimized and
certified thin clients, including the R10L, D90D7, Z90D7, as well as the
X90m7 mobile thin clients, provides users with a robust experience, even
on low-bandwidth and high-latency connections. With Dell Wyse endpoints,
people working with graphics intensive or VoIP applications can enjoy a
high quality experience regardless of network connection or geographic
location.
DVS Enterprise for Windows Server 2012 is available today in the U.S.,
Canada, U.K., France, Germany and Netherlands via direct and channel
partners from less than $300 per seat² for remote desktop sessions.
