BRIEF: Teenager robbed of cellphone, iPod in Watsonville


WATSONVILLE, Nov 28, 2012 (Santa Cruz Sentinel - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A teenager was robbed by three other teens Tuesday evening as he was skateboarding on Bridge Street.

The teen called police around 7:30 p.m. and reported that 20 minutes prior, he'd been approached by three Latino males around the ages of 15 or 16, Watsonville Police Lt. David McCartney said.

One of them brandished a knife and threatened him, the victim told police. They demanded he give them his cellphone and iPod, which he did. He was not injured.

The victim described the assailant with the knife as being about 5 feet, 8 inches and 200 pounds, wearing a black beanie, a black sweater and dark pants. The second teen was described as being between 5 feet, 11 inches and 6 feet, 1 inch, wearing a brown and tan polo shirt, black beanie and dark pants. The third teen is believed to be around 5 feet, 5 inches tall and wearing a black sweater at the time.




Watsonville police ask anyone with information on the case to call investigations at 768-3352 or the anonymous tipline at 768-3544.
