Ascom Network Testing: Consistent implementation of the new organizational structure

(M2 PressWIRE Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ascom's division Network Testing is consistently implementing its new organizational structure to enhance customer focus. As a consequence the divisional activities in Solothurn will be reduced to Technical Sales & Services for EMEA and R&D support for the customer base of the Symphony software suite. Moreover, Solothurn continues to be the Swiss hub for the business unit Systems & Solutions.

These measures support the achievement of the announced target to reduce the cost level of Network Testing by CHF 20 million as of 1 January 2013 in order to re-establish the profitability of the division.

As announced in April 2012, the Network Testing Division is being streamlined and reorganized. The former functional organization has been replaced and the market-facing part of the division has been split into three regional business units: America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and APAC (Asia, Pacific). The EMEA region is managed out of Elstead (UK). In addition, the product development part of Network Testing has been divided into three distinct product units: "Test & Measurement", "Benchmarking & Monitoring" and "Reporting & Analysis".

As a consequence, the divisional activities in Solothurn will be focused on Technical Sales & Services for EMEA and on R&D support for the customer base of the existing Symphony software suite. Moreover, Solothurn continues to be the Swiss hub for the business unit Systems & Solutions.

Supply Chain and Finance & Administration are planned to be transferred to the regions and to the hub in Kuala Lumpur. The final assembling and testing for Benchmarking & Monitoring products for the large US order is planned to be done close to the customer in California. Thus the workforce of the Network Testing Division in Solothurn is planned to be reduced by approximately half and to comprise about 25 employees. All measures planned will be previously discussed with the employee representatives and the authorities. Ascom will fully comply with all legal requirements and no final decision will be made before January 2013.

These measures support the achievement of the announced target to reduce the cost level of the Network Testing Division by CHF 20 million as of 1 January 2013 in order to re-establish the profitability of this division. All measures initiated according to the announced restructuring program "Enterprise" for Network Testing are well under way and the full benefits of the CHF 20 million cost savings will materialize in 2013.
