Nawras hosts first Qtel Group Device Forum in Oman
Nawras, recently hosted the first Qtel Group Device Management Forum. Empowering people via connected mobile devices is a goal shared by network operators and device manufacturers. Among the manufacturers and suppliers who attended the gathering were Samsung, Nokia, Research In Motion, Alcatel and Huawei. Delegates from Nawras were joined in the Sultanate by their Qtel Group counterparts from Qatar, Kuwait, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine and Indonesia. Welcoming the delegates, Martin Lyne, Nawras chief marketing officer, said, "It is my great pleasure to welcome Qtel Group delegates and leading mobile device suppliers and manufacturers from across the globe to Oman for this Forum. City Cinema opens its latest multiplex in Buraimi
City Cinema has expanded its foot print to the city of Buraimi and moviegoers there can now experience the magic on the silver screens. The cinemas were inaugurated by HE Shaikh Khalaf Al Ishaki, Wali of Buraimi. City Cinema, belonging to Oman Arab Cinema Company is an organisation with more than four decades of existence in the Sultanate. This year has seen the group expanding its footprint rapidly, with the opening of its sixth multiplex in Buraimi. The fifth one opened recently at Muscat Grand Mall (MGM) in Bousher in July. City Cinema's existing locations include Shatti al Qurum, Ruwi, Sur and Sohar.
BankDhofar awarded annual STP award by Commerzbank, Germany
BankDhofar has received the prestigious STP Award from Commerzbank, Germany. The award recognises the bank's high quality Straight-Through- Processing (STP) of Euro payments and financial transactions. It is presented to banks and financial institutions that showcase exceptional quality and also meet the highest global standards for automatic processing of international payments in Euro. Representatives from Commerzbank, visited BankDhofar's head office in Muscat to deliver the award which was received by Mohammed Redha Ahmed Jawad, GM, Wholesale Banking. Speaking on receiving the award he said, "At BankDhofar we work to ensure that our transfers are faster, less costly, and simple. We offer high accuracy therefore lowering the cost of transactions to our customers"
Omantel launches special roaming offer for Hajj
Omantel has announced its latest offer for pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia. According to the new offer, customers of Oman's largest mobile company using their mobile phones in Saudi Arabia will benefit from a reduced flat rate of 70 bzs per minute for all incoming and outgoing calls to Oman and local calls within the kingdom. The new offer also offers reduced rate for sending SMS of 39Bzs/SMS and data usage to be charged at 300Bzs/ MB. The offer runs for one month from October15 till November 14, 2012. The offer, which is available to all Omantel postpaid and prepaid customers, will enable thousands of pilgrims to stay connected with their loved ones back home. Commenting on the launch of this new offer, Ali Suhail Bait Fadhil, senior manager, Marketing Planning and Performance at Omantel's Consumer Business Unit said, "Hajj is a special time for all Muslims and we at Omantel recognise the importance of keeping our customers in touch with their families, wherever they are"
Sitco celebrates 30 years of excellence
Sitco, a leading office automation company, recently held a gala dinner to commemorate its 30th anniversary in the Sultanate of Oman. The event took place at Al Bustan Ritz Carlton Hotel, under the patronage of HE Khalil al Khonji, Chairman, OCCI. HE J S Mukul, ambassador of India, HE Stefan Van Wersch, ambassador, Kingdom of the Netherlands and HE Shinichi Yamanaka, counsellor, Embassy of Japan graced the event as guests of honour. The highlight of the event was the official announcement of the declaration on the ISO certification which Sitco was recently accredited with and the launch of its product partnership with Ricoh International. The managing director of Sitco, V. Jayaprakash expressed his thanks to clients and customers.
NPA Events bags Gold
National Performing Arts and Events (NPA Events), has added a golden feather to its much adorned cap. In a glittering 'Asian Leadership Awards Ceremony' held at the Taj Palace Hotel in Dubai recently, NPA Events beat some of Asia's best event management companies participating from over 17 different countries, to emerge victorious in the hotly contested 'Most Admired Product Launch' category. This golden award was won by NPA Events for the innovative and novel manner in which the new Mercedes Benz CLS, titled 'CLS Cruise' was launched.
Zubair Automotive joins hands with Traffic Safety Expo
Zubair Automotive Group has partnered with Oman Traffic Expo 2012, in their third consecutive year of affiliation to encourage a safe driving environment in the Sultanate. For the 2012 edition of Traffic Safety week, Zubair Automotive is focusing on the simple theme that everyone needs to wear their seat belt - children first, and adults too. omanoil pilots first of its kind automatic toilet
Oman Oil Marketing Company (omanoil) has introduced the country's first of its kind automated toilet at its Burj Al Sahwa filling station, in association with Nakheel Al Shamal International, in a bid to advance Oman's public hygiene facilities. The European-based company P T Matic has designed and produced the automatic public toilet and the pilot pioneered by omanoil seeks to offer greater convenience and comfort for motorists and tourists with innovative and practical solutions. "This project is set to redefine Oman's fuel retail station offer in respect to communal hygiene facilities and services," said Mohammed Ali Al Jarjary, business development manager.
