BRIEF: Blotter: man punished for good deed

Nov 21, 2012 (The News Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Blotter is a look at some of the unusual things that happen on the crime beat in Bay County.

A man at the mall made a costly mistake when he allowed a stranger to borrow his phone.

A guy in a camouflage jacket asked the man if he could use his iPhone and the man allowed this. A moment later he turned his back to the camo man to talk to his friend, and when he looked again, the man had started running away with his phone.

The victim followed the man in the camo jacket through the food court and watched him leave the mall. The man then jumped into a truck and drove off.

The iPhone and the case it was in are valued at $600. Police have little information about the suspect.
