BRIEF: Today's Orange Friday sales helping feed the hungry

TERRE HAUTE, Nov 16, 2012 (The Tribune-Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Orange is an in-demand color around Terre Haute today as Orange Friday ribbons are selling like hotcakes at various businesses as a fundraiser for Catholic Charities Food Banks.

At Terre Haute Regional Hospital, 70 of the $3 ribbons were sold in the first hour of sales.

At Baesler's Market, many of the customers stopped at the Orange Friday table to purchase a ribbon, make a donation, or buy a cake pop after going through the checkout lines.


"One hundred percent of what you donated today goes to Catholic Charities Food Bank," organizer Robin Heng told customer Rick Burchell as he gave a donation.

Orange Friday ribbons are also being sold today at Java Haute, Vivid Hair Salon, Grand Traverse Pie Company, Terre Haute Regional Hospital, the Professional Office Building at Union Hospital, and Catholic Charities.

Sales continue until 4 p.m. at Baesler's and Union Hospital, until 2 p.m. at the Pie Company, and until 1 p.m. at Regional Hospital.

Each $3 donation feeds a family of four for one day.

Catholic Charities Food Bank serves 90 member agencies that distribute food to the needy in the Wabash Valley.
