Franklin Wireless introduces 2-in-1 device that functions as USB modem and Wi-Fi mobile hotspot

Nov 16, 2012 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX) -- Franklin Wireless Corp (OTCBB:FKWL), a maker of high speed wireless data products, has introduced its new 2-in-1 Smart USB Hotspot series of wireless devices, the company revealed on Thursday.

The new family of devices can be used as traditional USB modems or as portable Wi-Fi mobile hotspots for wireless connectivity.

Users can access wireless broadband networks by inserting the device into the USB port of a laptop, tablet or other device. To enable the Wi-Fi mobile hotspot feature, it can be inserted into an external power source with the use of an A/C adaptor, car cigarette lighter adaptor or battery pack, thereby establishing a Wi-Fi mobile hotspot which is available to multiple users.

A dual-mode LTE/CDMA version of the Smart USB Hotspot has been available via C Spire Wireless since October.

Franklin Wireless said it believes that the 2-in-1 Smart USB Hotspot series is a first for the worldwide 4G market.

No pricing details were available.
