New Line of Acer All-in-One Devices Among the First Products to Feature PointGrab's Windows 8 Hand Gesture Control Solution
TEL AVIV, Israel --(Business Wire)--
PointGrab Ltd. today announced that its industry-leading hand gesture
recognition software for Windows 8 is incorporated in the latest line of
Acer (News - Alert) All-in-One devices, currently on shelves at retailers around the
world. This marks PointGrab's consumer-level entry into several key
global markets, including North America, and the company's continued
dominance of the hand gesture recognition industry. New Acer devices
feature the recently unveiled Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows 8 operating system,
which offers users a new user interface that is more streamlined, having
been uniquely architected for use with touch and gestures. Acer is one
of the first brands to include PointGrab's Windows 8 solution into their
products.
Expanding on the momentum of its Windows 7 product, PointGrab's solution
for Windows 8 provides natural user interface (NUI) hand gesture
functionality to customers, enabling an intuitive, touch-less experience
with technology. Using a standard, internal 2-D camera, Acer customers
will now be able to navigate through features, control multimedia, and
command entertainment and business applications without needing to
actually touch the notebook. Acer joins Fujitsu, Intel (News - Alert) and several other
top consumer electronic companies that use PointGrab hand gesture
recognition software with their PC and TV products.
"Introducing PointGrab's hand gesture control software on Acer devices,
signifies the beginning of a strategic partnership between our companies
designed to directly benefit Acer customers across the globe," said
PoitGrab CEO, Haim Perski. "By including our Windows 8 solution in
their new line of All-in-Ones, Acer devices are now able to offer users
the luxury of touch-less technology interaction - a far more intuitive
experience."
With its solutions featured on several million products around the
world, PointGrab maintains the industry's widest range of gestures that
can be used with 2-D cameras. Gestures can be incorporated from the
PointGrab library or tailored to meet the custom needs of clients.
PointGrab software is available for products running either Intel or
ARM (News - Alert)-based processors.
"Acer's long-term mission is to break the barriers between people and
technology," said David Liu, associate vice president of stationary
computing products at Acer. "PointGrab's latest solution helps us to
continue realizing that mission by making hand gestures easy and
intuitive - ultimately to become second nature for our customers."
Acer All-In-One devices are on sale in North America, Europe and Asia
through a large assortment of retail stores and online at www.acer.com.
