Photo Release -- Avago Technologies Extends Gate Drive Optocoupler Portfolio With New High Voltage Insulation Package

(GlobeNewswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN JOSE, Calif., and SINGAPORE, Nov. 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avago Technologies (Nasdaq:AVGO), a leading supplier of analog interface components for wireless, wireline and industrial applications, today announced a new gate drive optocoupler that delivers industry-leading insulation performance.

A photo accompanying this release is available at //www.globenewswire.com/newsroom/prs/ pkgid=15446 Following the successful launch of ACNV4506/2601/260E and significant interest from designers of high power applications, Avago Technologies is expanding this package platform to its gate drive optocoupler family. The new ACNV3130 is a 2.5A maximum peak output current gate drive optocoupler available in a 500 Mil DIP 10 package suitable for driving IGBT up to 1700V/100A. This package furthers our ability to deliver wide creepage and clearance, and high insulation voltage required in high power applications such as mid-voltage (690V) drives, renewable energy inverters, traction drives and power supplies.

Improved efficiency helps achieve high power without increasing current that causes copper losses in these applications. Many governments' policies and regulations are requiring faster adoption of higher voltages in their state energy-saving programs. The structure and packaging technology used in Avago optocouplers supports this trend as they support wide DTI (Distance Through Insulation) to achieve high insulation voltages that protects the systems and users. Optocouplers are the only type of isolation device that are certified to the IEC60747-5-5 standard for reinforced insulation as compared to other types of non-optical monolithic isolators. Avago Technologies has one of the industry's highest 13mm creepage and clearance ACNV packages which is UL and IEC 60747-5-5 certified to VISO=7.5kVRMS and VIORM=2262VPEAK respectively.

"Avago continues to bring value to customers by introducing new products that meet new industrial trends and needs," said Kheng-Jam Lee, marketing director for optocoupler products at Avago. "The extended use of ACNV packages in our gate drive optocoupler portfolio further expands our portfolio, which is already the broadest in the industry. This package platform better addresses a wider range of design requirements and applications including the emerging mid-voltage (690V) drives market." Additional ACNV3130 Product Features 2.5A maximum peak output current provides reliable and efficient IGBT operation High CMR (40kV/µs@VCM=1.5kV) prevents erroneous drive in noisy environments Under Voltage Lock-Out (UVLO) with hysteresis provides IGBT protection Industrial temperature range: -40° C to +105° C U.S. Pricing and Availability Avago ACNV3130 gate drive optocouplers are priced starting at $3.24 each in 10,000 piece quantities. Samples and production quantities are available now through the Avago direct sales channel and via worldwide distribution partners.
