RF Code Announces Proximity Locator Solution
AUSTIN, Texas --(Business Wire)--
RF
Code, a leading provider of asset
management and wire-free
environmental
monitoring solutions, today announced a first-of-its kind Proximity
solution that provides an additional layer of security for a
company's critical assets. The new solution provides a completely
automated method of correlating personnel location and event occurrence
within restricted areas, such as cages in a data center that house
servers running transactional data. In this case, the RF Code solution
becomes a key part of a company's PCI (News - Alert) infrastructure compliance efforts.

The solution's ability to correlate what moved with who
moved it gives companies the controls they need to fully account for
their critical mobile assets-from healthcare and IT equipment to
warehoused inventory and more. Such information is useful to identify a
limitless range of unauthorized activity, from who's using what
particular piece of equipment that someone else may need to determining
the presence of unauthorized personnel in "off limit" areas to
discovering the presence of someone sneaking into a facility behind a
"badged" employee.
"It's not about watching. It's about protection," said Richard Jenkins,
RF Code, Vice President, Marketing. "The proximity solution is
essentially an asset 'audit trail,' giving you an added layer of
security about what, where and how your critical assets are. We like to
ask our customers if they can tell us: What is it Where is it How is
it We're thrilled to have just added an additional question: Who has
it With RF Code you have the answer."
Based on an inventive use of two different radio frequencies-long and
short range-the solution consists of a Proximity Locator and infrared
(IR)-enabled badge
tags to provide sub-room-level locationing.
About the Proximity Solution: How it Works
Each locator is wired to a device or object: for example, a door in a
restricted area such as an IT wiring closet or pharmaceutical closet.
When that door is opened, the locator transmits short range event data
to any badges in the area, which pick up the "what happened" and "where
it happened" information, add the badge ID information and then send all
this data to RF Code software, which enables tracking of who did what,
where.
