Valley fugitive taunts police in online videosSHAMOKIN, Nov 09, 2012 (The Daily Item - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A fugitive wanted for a parole violation is taunting those trying to catch him by posting online videos insulting U.S. Marshals and city police. Scott Binsack, 42, of Shamokin, began a YouTube video series called "Something's Smokin' in Shamokin," which aired two hourlong videos in October. The latest, viewed Thursday, shows Binsack in a room and saying he can be found in "Narnia." Early in October, Binsack and friend Steven L. Crone began the series that shows them walking the streets of Shamokin and complaining about asbestos in Dumpsters and buildings being torn down at expensive prices. Binsack had been arrested on bad check charges stemming from his work as head of Mansions & Estates LLC near Scranton and pleaded no contest in July 2010. He served time in prison and was granted parole in April 2011. In the summer of 2012, Binsack addressed Shamokin City Council about his plans to revitalize the municipality with $13.4 million of public stock. State and federal officials became aware of the plan and began investigating Binsack. Binsack claims in his videos he is being set up by authorities because he is unavailing "corruption" in the city. Binsack posted a YouTube video Oct. 28 telling people he is in hiding and no one will find him. He said he plans to sue several individuals, including Shamokin Police Chief Edward Griffiths. "He did this type of stuff before," Griffiths said. "He is a scam artist and he has been convicted. "He posts stuff about me on Facebook that is just not true and I contacted Facebook and they said it's freedom of speech. The story is the same with this guy but the town changed." Griffiths said Binsack is being sought for a probation violation. "He didn't show up when he was suppose to," he said. Binsack is being sought by the state Board of Probation and the U.S. Marshals Service Middle District of Pennsylvania Task Force. The first two installments of "Something's Smokin in Shamokin," had more than 70,000 views, while Binsack's latest rant has not been as popular.
