Dutch Linx Telecom sues Georgian Railway in international arbitrationNov 09, 2012 (Trend News Agency - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- TBILISI, Georgia -- Dutch company Linx Telecom has filed a lawsuit against Georgian Railway in an international arbitration. Linx Telecom entered the Georgian market in 2007. In 2009 Linx Telecom took part in a tender related to the Telecom Company declared by Georgian Railway and won it, but later it was found the tender had not been fully prepared, Telecom president Jules Delahaije told reporters on Wednesday. According to him, it became clear that the area where the fibre-optic cable was planned to be laid is not owned by Georgian Railway. Linx had to invest $30 million in the project. "For our part, we were fulfilling the conditions of the tender in good faith, but it turned out that Telecom which was to make a profit, suffered losses and its debts increased from one to five million dollars," Delahaije said. According to him, rumours were later spread that Telecom had been passed to Kavkazus online. "As a result in 2010, Georgian Railway unilaterally severed relations with us and Telecom became subordinate to the Ministry of Economy. Later, by presidential decree, the company was sold for three million dollars, on an instalment payment plan, "Delahaije said. "We appealed to the court and demanded one million dollars. However, the court did not submit our case. We have suffered even more losses, but asked for as much as we paid in cash," the president of the company said. He did not rule out that after the change of power in Georgia, the company will again appeal to Georgian court. Currently a lawsuit is filed in an international arbitration and the disputed amount increased. Delahaije also added that the company will continue its work in the country.
