Bloomington Unveils New City Website

Bloomington, IL, Nov 09, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- The City of Bloomington has launched a redesigned government website focused on information sharing and community involvement. The new website can be accessed at http://www.cityblm.org.

"As we set out to redesign the City's website, we were mindful of the many different audiences that the site serves," explains City Webmaster Craig McBeath.

"We worked to create an informative website that would best serve the members of our diverse community as well as share the message that Bloomington is a wonderful place to live." The City of Bloomington is the most recent of Illinois' "Twin Cities" to launch a redesigned website. Since the launch, there has been great excitement surrounding the website's advanced features and interactive components.

visionMobile(TM) dynamically converts the site to a mobile optimized version without additional coding.

Super menus simplify search by immediately showing three levels of navigation as users hover over main navigation categories.

Document Central houses all important city documentation in one organized, easy-to-search location.

The E-Notify System allows users to subscribe to automatic E-mail updates from the City.

A homepage wireframe design with flexibility allows for new content areas to easily be added when needed.

Upon visiting the new website, it's easy to notice that major upgrades have been made to the website's overall look and feel. Closely following government website best practices, the recreated design sports a modern, professional look.

The homepage features a rotating slideshow that scrolls through important community events. Breaking news, upcoming events and meetings are also displayed directly on the homepage.

To pay tribute to the community's historic theatre, the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts sub-site was launched in conjunction with the City website. It was designed to embody the theatre's unique interior elegance. The sub-site features a special homepage design and navigation menu tailored specifically to the BCPA. Upcoming show times, ticket prices, and performance photos invite users to explore the cultural-side of Bloomington.

The City of Bloomington website was created in partnership with Vision Internet, an award-winning government website development company with 16 years of website building expertise.

"Vision Internet has provided us with an advanced content management system tailored to our local government needs," continues McBeath. "The interface of their CMS is simple to use and already saves our staff members valuable time."
