MTN South Africa says has top broadband speeds [Bikya Masr (Egypt)]

CAPE TOWN: South Africa is pushing forward on broadband mobile Internet and the country’s leading telecommunications operator MTN South Africa said it is the number company for 3G and HSPA.

The news portal MyBroadband reported that MTN said it had “17,230 mobile broadband speed tests were carried out, with the average download speed recognized as 4.55 Mbps.” After the testing was completed, MTN’s download speed come in well above average, at 5.39 Mbps.



The firm’s CTO Kanagaratnam Lambotharan said he was “pleased with the ranking and that it proved that the company’s network infrastructure investment and expansion plans were paying off.” South Africa is the leading IT and telecom country in Africa and all operators in the country hope that continued efforts in the Internet and mobile Internet sectors will be able to continue to push forward and assist residents with faster services.
