SkyBitz to Track the 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree

HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)--

SkyBitz®, the leader in remote asset tracking and information management solutions, today announced that it will once again provide real-time tracking of the Capitol Christmas Tree's cross country journey to the Nation's Capitol at www.TracktheTree.com. Using its satellite-based tracking solution, SkyBitz (News - Alert) will provide tracking data, complete with a detailed street-level map of the tree's current location.

In addition to providing the latest tracking information, TracktheTree.com will include photo galleries from the Capitol Christmas Tree Cutting Ceremony and Caravan, as well as fun facts about many of the tour stops. There are also opportunities to interact with other Capitol Christmas Tree followers on Facebook (News - Alert) at www.Facebook.com/TracktheTree and on Twitter (News - Alert) (@TracktheTree).

"We are excited to continue the tradition of making our asset tracking technology available so that the American public can follow along and participate in activities and the delivery of this year's Capitol Christmas Tree," said Henry Popplewell, Senior VicePresident and General Manager, SkyBitz. "This is the sixth year SkyBitz is tracking the Capitol Christmas Tree and we look forward to helping make it a journey to remember. Trackthetree.com allows everyone to become an interactive participant, regardless of whether or not the tree stops in their home town."

Blanco District Ranger Ken Coffin said, "We have been thrilled with the turnout at events thus far. As we finish wrapping the tree and prepare to embark upon a journey across the country, we hope that people will come out and see Colorado's gift to the citizens of our nation, this year's "People's Tree." It is our hope that people will track the tree and be a part of the tradition as it travels from Colorado to our nation's capitol in Washington, D.C."

The 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree will begin its more than 5,000 mile journey from the Blanco Ranger District of the White River National Forest, near Meeker, Colorado to Washington, D.C. on November 6th. It will arrive in the Nation's Capitol on November 26th. After touring Colorado for seven days, the 2012 Capitol Christmas Tree will embark upon its cross country tour with key stops in Albuquerque, N.M.; Dallas, Texas; Oklahoma City, Okla.; St. Louis, Mo.; Nashville, Tenn.; Atlanta, Ga.; Ashville, N.C.; Staunton, Va.; Allentown, Pa. The tree lighting ceremony, hosted by the U.S. Speaker of the House, will be held in early December.
