SubscriberWise Protects Cable Operator From Fraudulent Service Requests and Extreme Predatory Behavior

MASSILLON, Ohio --(Business Wire)--

SubscriberWise®, the leading provider of analytics driven subscriber risk management technology and the nation's largest issuing consumer reporting agency for the communications industry, announced today that its decision management technology has profoundly protected its member operator from repeated fraudulent service requests spanning nearly 4 years from the same perpetrator.

"It's astounding when one looks at the scale of bad behavior that this individual has engaged ovr such a long period," said David Howe, president of SubscriberWise. "This individual has proven relentless. The negative impact this type of criminal activity has on an operator's daily work-flow and bottom line is astounding. Its impact on law enforcement and criminal justice resources are also significant. I've been informed that this case will likely be filed as a felony."

"Starting in October 2008, and as late as July 2012, this individual applied for service on 6 separate occasions," said David Hoffer, chief operating officer for Massillon Cable TV and Clear Picture Cable. "He provided a different social security number with each service request. On two occasions, the identities provided were stolen from children. On three other applications, he simply provided a variation of his legal name with contrived SSN's and made-up DOB's. And on this most recent occasion, the social security number provided was apparently stolen from an individual who died more than 50 years ago in 1961."

"He also destroyed one of our expensive high definition converters," continued Hoffer. "In August 2011, evidence of these crimes was provided to law enforcement. Following this most recent attack, we again provided substantial evidence to the police to support our claim. We're certainly eager for the prosecutor to pursue due process."
