Raytheon Joins Forces with Twisted Pair Solutions to Integrate Smartphones, Tablets with Interoperability Server

Oct 04, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Raytheon Company has partnered with Twisted Pair Solutions, a Seattle-based provider of critical communication applications, to help first responders communicate on a variety of hand-held devices.

According to a release, police, fire and emergency rescue workers will be able to communicate with each other no matter what device they are using.

Twisted Pair's WAVE software will be integrated with Raytheon's Interoperability Server -- allowing smartphones and tablets to securely connect to existing Land Mobile Radio (LMR) infrastructure and enabling existing infrastructure to expand and securely transmit critical voice and data through the use of 4G/LTE devices.

"By incorporating the WAVE application onto our server, first responders can communicate in real-time on any device, anywhere," said TJ Kennedy, director of Public Safety and Security for Raytheon's Network Centric Systems business. "Together we provide a low-cost solution for police departments that are running out of spectrum on their existing infrastructure and need to increase their capabilities." Raytheon's server provides interoperability between LMR radio systems (including P25 via ISSI), landline and VoIP phones, and 4G/LTE. WAVE is a patented, multi-component interoperability and mobile workforce communications solution that enables the integration of existing and future technologies. It has been deployed by the Department of Defense, federal government and law enforcement agencies worldwide.

"Our partnering with Raytheon will deliver new, economical choices for law enforcement communications," said Tom Guthrie, president and CEO of Twisted Pair. "Our joint efforts will provide flexible access to critical communications from commercial devices in an integrated and secure manner." Raytheon Company is a technology company focusing on defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world.
