Fortinet(R) Wins TMC 2012 "Internet Telephony" Excellence Award

SUNNYVALE, CA, Sep 26, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Fortinet(R) (NASDAQ: FTNT) -- a world leader in high-performance network security -- today announced that the company's FortiGate UTM platform has won a 2012 Internet Telephony Excellence Award presented by TMC's "Internet Telephony" magazine. The "Internet Telephony" Excellence Awards were created to honor companies that have created products and services that excel in the IP communications industry.

The Excellence Awards recognize the creators of technology that demonstrate leadership and innovation to the global industry. As part of the application process, companies provide case studies of IP communications success experienced by one of their clients after operating the product/service over the past year.

"The editors of 'Internet Telephony' were pleased to grant Fortinet an Internet Telephony Excellence Award for its innovation in IP communications. The FortiGate UTM platform has demonstrated outstanding quality, and Fortinet has delivered exceptional solutions for its customers," said Erik Linask, Group Editorial Director for "Internet Telephony." "Fortinet has been recognized with a 2012 Internet Telephony Excellence Award for proving its dedication and excellence in advancing IP communications," said Rich Tehrani, CEO for TMC.

The FortiGate UTM family of physical and virtual appliances, as well as chassis-based systems, deliver superior performance, reliability and scalability for high-speed service providers, large enterprises or telecommunications carrier networks. Fortinet's FortiGate-5140B chassis, running the FortiGate-5001B or FortiGate-5101C security blades, was named "World's Fastest Firewall" for IPv4 and "World's Fastest Firewall" for IPv6 respectively in independent tests by BreakingPoint Systems, Inc. Native 10-GbE support and a highly-flexible AdvancedTCA(TM) (ATCA)-compliant architecture enables the FortiGate-5140B chassis to be the foundation for protecting today's most demanding networks, including cloud-based, multi-tenant security-as-a-service and infrastructure-as-a-service environments.

The FortiGate-5140B supports up to fourteen blades, allowing customers to customize and scale their security solution for their unique environments. They have the flexibility to incorporate a mix of advanced networking services blades such as the FortiController-5103B blade, capable of delivering over 100 million concurrent sessions and giving customers unmatched session-per-second performance.

FortiGate 5000-series chassis can also incorporate FortiManager and FortiMail security blades, as well as integrate with virtual or physical FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer appliances to provide centralized command, messaging security, rich analytics and reporting to help security managers stay fully current with evolving security needs.

"We're honored to accept this technology and innovation award on behalf of our FortiGate UTM platform," said Patrick Bedwell, vice president of products for Fortinet. "We strive to deliver solutions that exceed our service provider and telecommunications customers' expectations for performance, stability and scalability. Fortinet has been a leader in providing the technology that global leaders in IP telephony rely on to protect their customers, and we encourage prospective customers to visit Fortinet's Website and learn more about our customers." The 2012 Internet Telephony Excellence Award winners are published in the September 2012 issue of Internet Telephony magazine, www.itmag.com.

This year, Fortinet has won more than 10 industry awards around the world for its products. In February, the FortiGate-60C won the "Best UTM Security" award at SC Magazine's Reader's Trust awards.
