Demand for Virtual Appliances Grew Sharply in 2Q12, According to Dell'Oro Group


REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Sept. 19, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Dell'Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the networking and telecommunications industries, announced today that strong sales of virtual appliances contributed to four percent sequential revenue growth in the Data Center Appliance market.

"This quarter we saw strong sequential growth in virtual appliances, climbing 58 percent in the WAN Optimization segment and 18 percent in the Application Delivery Controller segment. Virtual appliances continue to benefit from the proliferation of virtualization and cloud computing, and we expect they will progressively increase their presence in production networks going forward," Quillin added.

The report also indicates that 2012 will be an important year to observe how virtual appliances take form in the Data Center Appliance Market. Vendors such as A10, Citrix, F5, Radware, and Riverbed currently have virtual offerings in the Data Center Appliance market.
