SpringCM Successfully Completes SSAE 16 and SOC 2 Audits

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

SpringCM®, the leader in cloud content services for business, today announced it has obtained a service auditor's review for both the Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Type II and for the Service Organization Controls (SOC) 2 Type II. SSAE 16 compliance validates SpringCM's ability to serve public companies for business applications impacting financial integrity. SOC 2 compliance reinforces SpringCM's commitment to security, confidentiality, availability, privacy and processing integrity for all of its business customers. Both audits apply to the full range of SpringCM's cloud service, including mobile and desktop sync products.

An enhancement of the SAS (News - Alert) 70 compliance standard, SSAE 16 defines the requirements to report on controls critical to customers to support their financial reporting, helping them comply with standards such as Sarbanes-Oxley in the U.S. SOC 2 is based on Trust Services Principles, which according to the AICPA, "helps differentiate entities from their competitors by demonstrating to stakeholders that the entities are attuned to the risks posed by their environment and equipped with the controls that address those risks." Both reviews are based on internationally accepted best practices.

72% of enterprise organizations require SOC 2 according to recent survey by Gartner. [Gartner Survey Analysis: Assessment Practices for Cloud, SaaS (News - Alert) and Partner Risks 2012; Jay Heiser; 30 April 2012]. However, many cloud services, including cloud content services, have yet to successfully complete the SOC 2 audit, instead relying on the less rigorous SSAE 16 Type II.

"Successfully completing audits for SSAE 16 and SOC 2 demonstrates SpringCM's commitment to delivering a cloud content service for business," says Christopher Junker, CEO, SpringCM. "We're particularly proud that these certifications address not only the entire stack from data center through application but also across our mobile and sync applications, so our customers can work anywhere anytime, knowing their content is secure."
