Broadcom Assigned Patent(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) By Targeted News Service ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 27 -- Broadcom, Irvine, Calif., has been assigned a patent (8,245,918) developed by four co-inventors for a "method and system for random data access for security applications." The co-inventors are Xuemin Chen, San Diego, Iue-Shuenn I. Chen, San Diego, Francis Chi-Wai Cheung, Del Mar, Calif., and Longyin Wei, San Diego. The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A method for securely handling processing of information includes, in a chip, selecting one of a plurality of data processes based on a random index. After a randomly allocated time interval has elapsed, the selected one of the plurality of data processes may be initiated. The selected one of the plurality of data processes may include accessing data and/or acquiring the data. Burstiness of the data may be approximately equal to burstiness of data acquired by at least one of a plurality of clients on the chip. Data may be verified by the selected one of the plurality of data processes prior to the processing of the data." The patent application was filed on June 14, 2011 (13/159,578).
