Avangate Secures PCI DSS Certification

Aug 26, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Avangate, an eCommerce service provider, announced that the company has obtained another PCI DSS certificate.

According to a release, Avangate's customers and their shoppers will benefit from security and data-management practices on the market with the added compliance capabilities.

A mandatory standard for all banks, processing centers, financial organizations and merchants working with payment brands, the PCI DSS certification reflects the continued evolution of security standards.

"In addressing these access-points for payment card data continuously, PCI DSS compliant businesses such as Avangate achieve effective operations for preventing payment card fraud and data loss. All companies that manage payment card data during any process must meet the stringent information security standards of PCI DSS compliance designed to ensure customer security," explained David Feltham, Principal Information Assurance Consultant & Lead QSA at Endava UK. "Comprised of 12 practices encompassing transaction processes and data storage treatment, PCI DSS compliance stipulates that businesses adhere to strict data encryption methodologies, network and traffic monitoring services, and defined user access privileges to stored data." Avangate said its SkyCommerce solution includes features that secure credit card data in dynamic transaction environments and in data centers adhering to strict compliance rules. The new Level 1 Certification comes as part of the company's dedication to make global sales for software vendors as simple and as secure as possible. By removing the burden of obtaining PCI compliance, Avangate helps companies protect themselves from the reputation and monetary damage that security breaches have on both software vendors and customers.

"Conducting sales online is absolutely imperative for any modern software vendor's success but handling these online transactions could be costly and complex as compliance with credit card security standards must be implemented," explains Cristian Badea, Chief Information Officer at Avangate. "From marketing their products to managing sales and renewals, software vendors look to us for end-to-end solutions that accelerate their online sales and ensure the safety of their consumers. Avangate has a strong security and fraud management history and we continue to maintain these high standards through annual audits and thorough platform scans." Dedicated to security, the Company noted that it has commissioned continuous internal and external security tests to ensure that the latest threats are addressed. This new certification was generated after the successful completion of a rigorous third-party audit by Endava for Avangate's global offices.

Avangate's SkyCommerce platform was awarded by the Software & Information Industry Association, CODiE Awards as one of the "Best Electronic Commerce Solutions" in 2012. The company was recently named a Red Herring "Top 100 Europe" technology company as well as one of the AlwaysOn Global 250 Companies to Watch.
