Payroll legislation an increase in red tape [Western Daily Press (UK)]
(Western Daily Press (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) From next October, every employer must comply with the latest red- tape demand from HMRC - to provide "Real Time Information" (RTI) every time you pay your employees. This initiative replaces the traditional requirement for employers to submit a form at the end of the tax year. From next year, HMRC demands an online submission every time wages or salaries are paid. If you use payroll software, you must ensure that it can submit RTI data - that requires that small businesses make a check call with your software supplier. Firms with fewer than nine permanent employees can use HMRC's free Basic PAYE Tools.
