[July 21, 2012] MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Inks Contract with Avanti Tweet Jul 21, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA), a provider of information solutions, announced that it has signed a contract valued at approximately CA$35 million with United Kingdom-based Avanti Communications Group plc to provide a Ka-band broadband communications payload solution for their HYLAS 3 satellite. According to a release, HYLAS 3 will provide satellite data communications services covering Africa and the Middle East, and is expected to launch in 2015. The award of the HYLAS 3 payload to MDA is another testament to MDA`s leadership position in Ka-band multi-beam solutions.
