Acer to help the world explore during the London 2012 Olympic Games

Jul 20, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Acer, one of the eleven Worldwide Partners of the Olympic Movement, is using Taxi Advertising for the first time in order to promote its position as a worldwide computing partner of the 2012 Olympic Games.

Acer is effectively translating its Worldwide Partner status onto the streets of London, using the energy around the Games and reinforcing its presence in the capital by advertising on a famous icon of London, the black cab.

Acer is using taxi advertising to help grow the perception of Acer around the world, targeting the international audience visiting London during The Olympics, and helping the world explore London in their branded taxis.

Acers Worldwide Partner agreement started in January 2009. The partnership delivered funding and helped stage the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London, providing computing technology equipment, and associated services to manage the Games demands.

The striking taxis feature branded receipts and Tip Seats which are an extension to the exterior advertising, the crisp Acer branding coupled with the official Olympic Games logo reinforces their involvement and importance to the event.

Taxis are a recommended mode of transport by London 2012 due to the increased pressure that will be applied to the public transport systems.

The taxis will run throughout the build-up and during The 2012 Olympics which is encouraging an extra eight million visitors to travel to the Capital to support their country, during this time an extra 65 million journeys are predicted to be made, there is no better time to transport Acers branding onto the streets.

Linda Hassall, head of marketing at Acer UK said, Acer is a proud Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Movement. Our PCs and servers have been deployed across the Olympic Park and venues. Along with other technology providers our role is to ensure the Games run smoothly from a technology perspective. Were excited to see our Acer branded taxis take to the streets in the coming weeks and remind Londoners and visitors of our association with the Games About Acer Since its founding in 1976, Acer has broken barriers between people and technology, enabling users to explore, create and grow. Acer ranks No. 2 for notebook PCs globally (source: Gartner data 2011). The Acer Group employs 8,000 people across the globe, and revenues for 2011 reached US$15.7 billion.

Acer's channel business model is instrumental to the company's success, while its multi-brand approach integrates Acer, Gateway, and Packard Bell brands in worldwide markets. Acer designs environmentally friendly products and, with its vendors, has established a green supply chain.

Acer is proud to be a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic Movement. That includes supporting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and London 2012 Olympic Games. More information is at www.acer-group.com.
