Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner Hosts National Youth Science Camp Luncheon in Washington, D.C.

(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Conner, a 1977 Arkansas NYSC representative, to speak on the increased importance of digital-identities in protecting cyberspace DALLAS, July 18, 2012 /CNW/ - Entrust, Inc., a global leader in identity-based security, will sponsor this year's National Youth Science Camp (NYSC) luncheon, July 18 at the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C. Entrust President and CEO Bill Conner will discuss how the Internet, cloud computing, mobile devices and software have changed how the world lives, works, plays and communicates, and the inherent risks this brings to individuals' identities and cyberspace. Conner was one of two 1977 NYSC delegates representing Arkansas.

"The world we live in today is a connected global economy that allows technology to advance faster than ever before," said Conner. "The Internet makes it much easier to access and share information across boundaries, but it also places our networks and data at higher risk. Cybercrime poses one of the biggest threats to our security and we need more talent to enter this field to combat the growing number of attacks." Hosted by West Virginia Sen. Jay Rockefeller, the NYSC luncheon is an opportunity for delegates to meet with science policy makers and senators. Conner will address the growth of cybersecurity and the need for more students with a science background to enter the field. While universities have added specific cybersecurity degrees, there is still a shortage of experts in the area. The luncheon also will feature Dean Kamen, the founder of For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST), an organization aimed at advancing youth understanding and involvement in science and technology.

"As quickly as we defend against one threat, cybercriminals develop a new method to hack data," said Conner. "In the cyber world, software tools change in days, not years, and sometimes in hours or minutes. That's why we must continue to foster growth within this area for today's youth. They will play an essential role in helping to defend the security of our government, companies and individuals." The NYSC is a summer honors program for two high school students from each state and international students. The students participate in the four-week camp in West Virginia and Washington, D.C. Delegates study with and attend lectures by scientists from across the country. Sen. Rockefeller has sponsored the NYSC since 1963.

A leading expert in the field, Conner has testified before the U.S. Subcommittee on Communications and Technology on cybersecurity. Entrust has long been a trusted provider of security solutions for the U.S. government, including the GSA, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NASA, and the U.S. Departments of Treasury, Defense and Homeland Security.
