Two Springs defense contractors among 385 Navy contract winners [The Gazette, Colorado Springs, Colo.]

(Gazette (Colorado Springs, CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) July 17--Two Colorado Springs-based companies that specialize in providing information technology services to the Department of Defense are among 385 contractors selected by the Navy to compete for up to $5.3 billion a year in logistics, engineering, information technology and training tasks.

Boecore Inc. and Delta Solutions & Strategies LLC were selected by the Navy Systems Command under the two-year Seaport Enhanced contract, which also includes a five-year renewal option. The 385 contractors will compete to provide services that including engineering, analysis, software engineering, quality assurance, information technology support, acquisition logistics support, training and program management for the Navy, Office of Naval Research, Marine Corps and Defense Threat Reduction Agency.

Under the contract, the agencies are required to set aside some of the work for small businesses, including those owned by service-disabled veterans. Delta is co-owned by Kelly Bain and three service-disabled veterans -- Gary Bain, Michael Marshall and Bo Mullis.

Delta has hired two employees in business development posts to help it compete for tasks under the contract, Kelly Bain said. The 12-year-old company employs 125, with all but one employee based in Colorado Springs, to provide professional and information technology services to the departments of Defense and Homeland Security.

"This is the largest contract of this type we have ever received, and we are excited that this puts us into a new market, the Navy, since our work has been primarily with the Air Force," Kelly Bain said.
