VuMee Offers SMS Short Code Messaging Platform

Jul 10, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- VuMee announced the formal assignment of the company's own SMS Short Code.

According to a release, VuMee, a social media platform for celebrities, brands and fans, plans to use this SMS Short Code messaging technology by creating a single, mobile entry point for public figures and brands to deliver multi-platform content to highly engaged mobile customers.

SMS Short Codes are special numbers that are shorter than telephone numbers. Most people are familiar with Short Codes by the 5 or 6 digit codes used to text your vote to shows like 'American Idol'. They are designed to be easier to remember than a telephone number.

VuMee reported that its SMS Short Code messaging platform will be advantageous for many reasons: -VuMee's proprietary interface provides a single, mobile entry point for both consumers and brands to communicate -SMS Short Codes are not shared with other brands therefore eliminating Brand confusion. When a SMS in received, the user will automatically know that the message is from VuMee, creating quick responses to messages due to familiarity with the code.

-Since the code is unique to VuMee, VuMee can change providers and keep the same code, avoiding users having to become familiar with another Short Code.

The Short Code is to be used on VuMee's proprietary mobile push network that allows members to receive messages when they upload their videos to the VuMee platform and to have members share their videos with their friends and fans. This technology enables VuMee to have more control over the sharing of videos.

The VuMee mobile app is currently available for free download in the Android and Apple stores.
