Kodak Sues Apple Over Patent Sales (AAPL)


Jun 19, 2012 (SmarTrend(R) News Watch via COMTEX) -- 6-19-2012- Eastman Kodak Company filed a lawsuit on Monday, suing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)for interfering with its patent sales. Kodak is arguing that Apple is wrongly claiming they own 10 patents that came from the two companies working together that occurred in the early 1990s. These patents deal with technology used to view photos on LCD screens on their cameras. Kodak owns 10,700 patents overall and plans to sell them during bankruptcy restructuring. Kodak filed for bankruptcy in January.

Eastman Kodak Company develops, manufactures, and markets imaging products. The company provides professional and consumer digital cameras, laser images for radiologists, and photographic films for professionals and amateurs. Kodak also provides digital services for cinematographers, document scanners, aerial images, digital printers for commercial customers, and flat panel displays.

Apple Inc.'s stock remains up on the day, trading up $1.11 at $586.89 per share.
