Nokia's Lumia 900 up to speed

(Enterprise (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nokia Lumia 900 is a Windows Phone 7.5-powered smartphone unveiled by Nokia at Consumer Electronics Show 2012. It has 4G LTE support, 4.3? display and a ClearBlack AMOLED 800×480 capacitive touchscreen. It also features a one piece polycarbonate body and is available in black, cyan and white. The Nokia Lumia 900 is a heavily borrowed design from the Lumia 800 and Nokia N9 that preceded it.

Usability The Lumia 900 is powered by a 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm processor and 512MB of RAM. The processor has no trouble pushing around the Windows Phone 7.5 Metro interface. Users have found the fast and fluid interface a joy to navigate and it provides a very different experience navigating a long list of apps than other smartphone platforms.

The live tiles that can be pinned to the homescreen work well for providing clearly visible information and quick access to certain app features, and Windows Phone’s extensive integration with social networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn makes the phone feel very connected with your social circle.

Calling and Data The Lumia 900 is the first Nokia to feature LTE support, and it is one of the first Windows Phone smartphones with LTE. The Lumia 900 also has 21Mbps HSPA+ support, so even if the user is not in an area covered by AT and T’s LTE, respectable network speeds are still accessible.

Apps and App Store Nokia has included its ESPN and App Highlights apps with the Lumia 900, and there are a number of AT and T services as well. The user can uninstall any of the pre-loaded AT and T apps if decide not to use, which is a new addition. Additionally, the user can install Nokia’s free Drive, Maps, and Transport apps from the Windows Phone Marketplace to add great navigational features to the Lumia 900.

Browser The Internet Explorer mobile browser on the Lumia 900 is fast, loading web pages, scrolling and zooming.
