United States : Big Switch Networks Releases Tool to Promote OpenFlow Interoperability [TendersInfo (India)]
(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Big Switch Networks, the leader in Open Software-Defined Networking (SDN), released OFTest, a framework for testing OpenFlow switches to insure standards compliance and interoperability. OFTest includes over 80 tests designed to exercise different aspects of the OpenFlow standard, and switches that pass these tests are expected to work together and with a standards compliant OpenFlow controller such as Floodlight.
As strong supporters of Open Software-Defined Networking, we re happy to contribute our work on OFTest to the OpenFlow community to promote standards compliance, said Guido Appenzeler, CEO of Big Switch Networks and publisher of the OpenFlow 1.0 Standard. We ve been seeing aggressive adoption of OpenFlow by many switch vendors and we wanted to offer them tools to build successful implementations.
OFTest can be run against both physical and virtual switches. It currently supports the OpenFlow 1.0 and 1.1 standards, and support will soon be extended to OpenFlow 1.2 and 1.3. While Big Switch Networks has been leading the development effort to date, the project has roots at Stanford University and is currently managed by OpenFlowHub, a community of open source OpenFlow developers.
About Big Switch Networks - Big Switch Networks was founded in 2010 to bring cloud innovation to enterprise networks using OpenFlow-based Software-Defined Networking. Big Switch Networks is headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
