Alliance-area hospital already drawing interest from job seekers

May 25, 2012 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Texas Health Resources' Alliance-area hospital is on track to open in September, and judging by activity on the facility's Facebook page, healthcare professionals are ready for it to open right now.

Posts to the site ask about job fairs and positions the hospital needs to fill. One person notes that she lives just two miles away but works in southwest Fort Worth.

The $100 million hospital, off Golden Triangle Boulevard east of Interstate 35W, expects to have about 250 employees and 50 initial inpatient beds by the time all departments are up and running, President Winjie Miao said.

The 188,000-square-foot building also includes space for another 50 beds, and the job count will grow with the number of patients, Miao said.

Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance expects to post most of its job openings within a couple of weeks.

There will also be jobs at the adjacent 72,000-square-foot medical office building, which is owned by a third party.

The cafeteria will not serve fried foods -- part of the hospital's goal of promoting community wellness.

During a walk through the structure Thursday, Miao noted that the facility has Wi-Fi throughout and is networked with electronic medical records systems at other Texas Health hospitals in North Texas. A wireless tracking system will also show the location of patients in the facility as well as in-demand equipment like IV pumps.

Going wireless has also allowed the hospital to do away with patient registration stations in the lobby, allowing more privacy.

Miao said she will work with a leadership council that is 50 percent physicians. Doctors will be involved in setting goals and deciding on equipment purchases as well as sharing in the gains when goals are met.

"My goal is for physicians to feel the same ownership pride in the hospital as in their own private practices," Miao said.
