JWT acquires Converge Technologies

(Slogan (Pakistan) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) WPP-owned JWT is strengthening its digital media capabilities in Pakistan through acquisition of a minority stake in Converge Technologies, a digital marketing services agency. The initiative is part of WPP’s strategy of developing services in fast-growing markets and sectors, and strengthening its capabilities in digital media. The acquisition will provide JWT more depth and breadth to its offerings in Asia.

JWT Pakistan CEO MansoorKarimShaikh commented, “This partnership will put both Converge and JWT Pakistan in a position to leverage each other’s strengths and scale up our integrated offering for our clients.” JWT Asia Pacific has moved aggressively into the digital space over the last year and has been making efforts to spread its digital presence across Asia. In 2011 JWT signed an agreement to acquire A4A, a digital and social media marketing company in China. This was followed by acquisition of the Indonesia-based digital agency Magnivate by XM Asia, a JWT company.

Commenting on the deal, Michael Maedel, President JWT Asia Pacific, said, “Pakistan is a very strategic market for JWT. This deal adds yet more momentum to our regional digital growth strategy. We will continue to add depth and breadth to our Asian digital offerings over the coming month.” Founded in 2007, Converge is based in Karachi and has 90 employees. Its clients include Nokia, Unilever, Pakistan State Oil and PTCL. Converge offers 360 degree activation, digital content marketing, digital viral marketing, data and research management.
