Wi2Wi Debuts Android for Its Products


May 23, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Wi2Wi, Inc., a provider of Wireless System-in-Package (SIP), module, and subsystems for embedded applications, has launched Android for its new and existing products.

According to a release, Android drivers are now available for embedded processors for W2CBW0015 New Ultra-Small SiP-Product featuring 802.11b/g/n-WiFi & Bluetooth-3.0, as well as legacy W2CBW003 802.11b/g-WiFi & Bluetooth-2.0 and W2SW0001 802.11b/g-WiFi.

Wi2Wi's focused business strategy on Major-Premium-Markets combined with its solid execution have resulted in a significant number of customer-wins in its core markets of Industrial/Medical, Smart Home/Building, & Government, the Company said.

"Android is an excellent fit for devices that require wireless connectivity, graphical data displays, and friendly user interactions, and thus for a potentially significant number of Wi2Wi's future customers in our core markets." Wi2Wi's CEO Dr. Reza Ahy noted, "It is a complete operating system, middleware layer, and application layer that runs on top of a Linux foundation. It already has strong device and communication protocol support, and there is a huge inventory of Android applications that add functionality and open these devices up to back-end, instantly-deployable solutions." Wi2Wi will be completing Android support for its main products in 2012. Android can provide capabilities such as: Application framework enabling reuse and replacement of components. Virtual machine optimized for portable/mobile devices. Integrated browser based on the open source WebKit engine. Optimized graphics powered by a custom 2D graphics library. SQLite for structured data storage. Media support for common audio, video, and still image formats (MPEG4, H.264, MP3, AAC, AMR, JPG, PNG, and GIF).
